APEA cordially invites economists to submit papers for presentation or organize a session at its sixteenth annual conference. The conference consists of two parts, held in two different cities in China. Part 1, which willl be held in Beijing on July 13- 14, 2020, will be hosted by the University of International Business and Economics, while part 2, which will be held in Qingdao (in Shandong Province) on July 15-16, 2020, will be hosted by Shandong University of Finance and Economics. Participants are welcome to participate and present a paper in either or both parts of the conference. People participating in both parts will move from Beijing to Qingdao on July 15, 2020. Participants attending the Qingdao part can choose to leave the conference from Qingdao, or go back to Beijing and then leave from there.

Submitting a Paper

The deadline for submitting a paper (or an extended abstract with at least 300 words) is January 15, 2020. There is no submission fee, but to help better manage the list of participants, a payment of part of the registration fee, US$100 (or US$50 for graduate students) per paper, is required. This fee will be deducted from the regular registration fee of US$320 (or US$160 for graduate students), which is the same as last year’s. Alternatively, the fee will be fully refunded if the paper is not accepted or if the paper is accepted but the payer later chooses not to attend the conference (and notify us by May15, 2020).

There are two ways to send us your submission. (i) You can visit the home page of the conference and click the link to the submission page. (ii) Alternatively, you can send your submission to <submit2020@apeaweb.org> before paying the pre-registration fee. You will be given more time to pay the fee.

In your submission, please include the following information of each of the co-authors (if any): name, e-mail address, affiliation, academic rank (or graduate student), and mailing address. Please also include the JEL codes of your paper. Please note that submission of more than one paper by the same author is highly discouraged, unless different papers will be presented by different co-authors. In the latter case, please specify the presenter of each of the papers submitted. Please also indicate whether you will be come to the Beijing part only or the Qingdao part only, or if you will attend both parts of the conference. If you will attend in both parts of the conference, please indicate in which part of the conference you want to present your paper.

Organize a Session

Economists are also encouraged to organize sessions in the conference. Each session will last for 2 hours, consisting of four papers (three or five papers are possible, to be presented by different authors), one chair (not necessarily the session organizer but preferably not one of the presenters or discussants), and the corresponding discussants, if any. Please submit by February 15, 2020 a proposal for one or two sessions to <submit2020@apeaweb.org>. The proposal should provide an explanation of the theme and all papers to be presented (a draft or an extended abstract of the paper), including the e-mail and mailing addresses, affiliations, academic ranks, and phone and fax numbers of the organizer, session chair, presenters, and discussants. All presenters will have to pay the registration fee (US$320, or US$160 for graduate students) per paper later. The organizer of each session is responsible for reminding the authors of the payment of the registration fees. Please indicate which part (Beijing or Qingdao part) of the conference you prefer to present your session in.
